Position Summary:
The Director of Development in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer will develop and implement new ideas and strategies to attract new donors and retain current donors in support of the Auditorium Theatre’s mission and continued growth. The Director of Development will help oversee a successful operation that ensures that the annual contributed revenue goals are met or exceeded.

Major Areas of Responsibilities:
– In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, develop and implement the Auditorium’s individual and corporate gifts program, including identifying and qualifying donors and prospects while developing best practices and tools for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
– Establish goals in alignment with the development team’s strategic plan.
– Support the Chief Development Officer, the Chief Executive Officer, and Board Members in their engagement of donor prospects and solicitation of new and renewed gifts and sponsorships.
– Research and identify new donor prospects including corporations, and develop briefings, gift request proposals, and materials to help move the prospects through the donor cycle.
-Manage a portfolio of mid-level donor prospects and corporate sponsors, and serve as a primary relationship manager.
-Ensure effective design and implementation of cultivation, acknowledgment, and recognition programs.
-Help develop a robust benefits and recognition program for Corporate Sponsorship.
-Represent the Auditorium Theatre at performances and external events.
-Develop an annual strategy for the Gala and other fundraising events that achieves or exceeds contributed income goal and expands our donor base.
-Manage and steward the Auditorium Affinity Groups: Dance Partners, Friends of Too Hot to Handel.
-Work with the Development and Marketing Teams to plan and execute multi-channel appeals.
– Ensure that all public facing information is up to date and consistent across printed materials, website, email communications, etc.
-Help develop accurate and timely acknowledgement letters and reports.
-Work with the Development Associate to research and create new target lists for the various campaigns.
-Ensure effective reporting for major gifts management, and monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activity to inform strategies and achieve revenue goals.
-Establish performance measurements related to fundraising strategies and goals, regularly reporting progress using data analysis.
-Track relationship management activity in Tessitura to include identification, qualifications, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective and current individual donors.
-Work closely with the Finance Department and Development Associate on reporting and reconciliation.
-Assist with review and verification of donor recognition lists.

-Minimum of five years of experience in nonprofit development and fundraising.
-Demonstrated success in planning, implementing, and executing major revenue generating campaigns.
-Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
-Excellent customer/donor service skills and demonstrated ability to build relationships.
-Strong attention to detail.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-energy organization with a willingness to take on new challenges and partner across organizational levels and departments.

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of constituent relationship management systems and wealth screening databases. Knowledge of Tessitura a plus.
