Data Science Intern – Job Description

Ignite offers a comprehensive continuum of services to young people between the ages of 14 to 26 who are unstably housed or experiencing homelessness. Beyond meeting youth’s immediate needs, our services provide youth with all the tools and support they need to succeed: stable housing; access to employment and education opportunities; primary and mental health care; lasting connections with caring adults, and the skills to live a healthy and independent life.

We work with each young person individually to help them overcome trauma and hopelessness, while working toward becoming a self-sufficient adult. Our holistic model includes transitional and independent living options, as well as community-based programming to connect with and support youth in crisis—all trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive.

As a member of the Finance & Administrative Team, you’ll be assisting with data collection and management, supporting teams that provide direct services. You’ll also be assisting the External Relations & Philanthropy (ERP) with development data management. Through this opportunity, you’ll familiarize yourself with various departments and their data needs.

Responsibilities

·       Under supervision of the Project Manager, assist Ignite’s program team by working on data collection and entry, cleaning, and analysis:

o   Periodically review data for gaps and correct them

o   Run programs reports when requested

o   Assist with ongoing improvements to dashboards

o   Assist with bulk data entry when requested

·       Provide support to the ERP Team through data entry in the eTapestry system

·       Assist Project Manager with the collection of monthly and quarterly dashboards by pulling raw data

·       Perform basic administrative tasks in Salesforce and SharePoint

·       Maintain confidentiality of all client files and sensitive materials

Ideal Candidate

•         High School Diploma/GED

•         Experience with or passion about working with technology

•         Familiarity with Microsoft Excel

•         Strong written and verbal communication skills; not afraid to ask questions or speak up when you don’t immediately understand

•         Candidates with relevant lived experience and/or experience as a direct service provider to under-resourced or low-income populations are encouraged to apply

•         Desire to pursue a future career in the nonprofit sector
